Who FreeAgent suits
FreeAgent works well for one or two-director limited companies, contractors and freelancers: straightforward sales invoicing, expenses, VAT and dividend records without more software than the business needs. Many banks include it free with a business account, which keeps costs down.
If you carry stock, run a larger payroll or want a wider app stack, our Xero accountant service is usually the better route. We'll recommend whichever genuinely fits.
Either way, the underlying work is the same: limited company accounts, corporation tax, VAT and payroll handled by one qualified team.

Are you a FreeAgent partner?
Yes. In Front Accounting is a FreeAgent partner as well as a Xero Silver Partner, so we can set up, manage and work inside your FreeAgent account.
I get FreeAgent free with my bank — can you still act for me?
Yes. If you already have FreeAgent through your bank we simply connect as your accountant and work in the account you have. If you don't, we can provide it as part of your monthly fee.
Is FreeAgent good enough for a limited company?
For most contractors, freelancers and smaller owner-managed limited companies, yes — it handles invoicing, expenses, VAT, simple payroll and dividend records well. Businesses with stock, multiple entities or complex app stacks are usually better on Xero.
How much does a FreeAgent accountant cost?
We quote a fixed monthly fee based on your turnover, VAT position, payroll and how much bookkeeping you want us to handle. Prices for business plans are on our pricing page.
Can you move me from FreeAgent to Xero, or the other way?
Yes, and we'll be straight with you about whether a move is actually worth it. Migrations are planned around a period end wherever possible so the comparatives stay clean.
Does FreeAgent handle Making Tax Digital VAT?
It does. FreeAgent keeps digital records and submits MTD VAT returns to HMRC. We review each return before it is filed.
Do you work with clients outside Essex?
Yes. Our office is at 105 High Street, Brentwood, Essex CM14 4RR, and because FreeAgent is cloud-based we look after clients across the UK by video call, phone and email.
Can you take over from my current accountant?
